FAQs
How much is car insurance in Qatar?
In Qatar, car insurance premium is calculated based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to your vehicle model and the value of your car. The minimum price for third party liability (TPL) is QAR 400. The minimum premium for full comprehensive insurance starts around QAR 1,100 annually.
| Coverage type | Starting price (annual) | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Third-party liability (TPL) | QAR 400 | Legal minimum; covers damage/injury you cause to others |
| Comprehensive | QAR 1,100 | TPL + damage to your own vehicle, plus optional extras (roadside assistance, agency repair, replacement car) |
What’s better for me, third party liability or comprehensive car insurance in Qatar?
We cannot tell what is the best fit for you. It all depends on your car insurance needs. A comprehensive policy provides you with maximum coverage, insuring both your liability and possible car damages. A TPL policy is a basic package that is cheaper but only covers others against damages and losses caused by you. Keep in mind that third party liability insurance in Qatar is compulsory. It’s a minimum legal requirement to drive on public roads. Also, comprehensive insurance is often required for leased cars.

Yes. comprehensive insurance cover is highly recommended for new cars, expensive and special cars. It’s also a good choice for beginners, and for car owners who drive in busy places and main roads, and all other drivers as well. For comparison, TPL is less expensive but doesn’t cover any possible damage to your car.
