New Metrash is Your Number One App in Qatar: Here's How it Works

The new Metrash app simplifies everyday services in Qatar by allowing users to quickly access security, visa, and vehicle information as well as submit reports.

The new Metrash app simplifies everyday services in Qatar by allowing users to quickly access security, visa, and vehicle information as well as submit reports.

With streamlined access to essential government services, the new Metrash app empowers users to manage everything — from Qatar ID renewal to traffic, security, and visa applications.

Metrash is the official app by the Ministry of Interior (MOI), launched to speed up processes such as submitting security complaints, filing car accident reports, and navigating the visa application. It was first introduced in December 2024, but became the only app for MOI services from March 2025, when the Metrash2 app was discontinued. Metrash is available for any citizen or resident with an active and valid Qatar ID card.

In this guide, we’re going over key features that are making processes such as monitoring visa applications and obtaining certificates easier.

Biometric login and fast response times

The new Metrash app unifies key government services under one platform. It has a modern design, biometric login, and faster response times than Metrash2.

Every user can now access an updated Profile section where important information like your Qatar ID card, residency status, and active services are displayed clearly. Furthermore, in the My Procedures section, you can keep track of each activity within the app, which allows for an easier overview of all your reports and claims.

Another novelty of the Metrash app is the option to access and print certificates for visas, vehicle registrations, or residency permits. Finally, ID holders will be happy to learn they can now renew their IDs or file for replacement of their damaged or lost documents.

Security: Simple reporting

Under the Security icon on the new Metrash app, you can easily file reports. For instance, the Lost Report option lets you report lost items or inform authorities you've found someone’s belongings. In the Search & Follow-Up Department section, you can stay updated on your ongoing investigation cases.

Moreover, those who need a police clearance certificate for work, travel, or immigration can apply for it in this section.

Traffic: Have an overview of vehicle and accident info

The Traffic section speeds up traffic-related requests and services. In the Vehicles option, users can take a look at vehicle owner details, as well as transfer ownership and Istimara renewal options

Users also have the option to report accidents, snap photos, and submit a report of their car accident. In this section, they can also access license services (for renewing a driver’s license, for instance) and mortgage-related services for their vehicle.

Pro tip: You can’t schedule a vehicle inspection in Metrash, but we have a step-by-step guide on how to book a Fahes inspection in Qatar that you can check out.

Residency: Quickly update your info or report a lost ID card

The Residency section speeds up some of the residency processes, like filling out a residency application form.

In this section, users can also update their passports after renewal, check Qatar ID status, and report lost or damaged documents.

Visa: Faster visa services

Qatar has taken its visa process digital, making it faster, smoother, and more accessible for everyone. Through the Visa section in the Metrash app, you can:

  • Submit new visa applications

  • Manage existing applications with options to update or cancel

  • Track the status of your visa requests in real time by accessing the Visa inquiry printing

  • Access Qatar Visa Center (QVC) services for biometric and medical appointments

Travel: Planning your journey just got easier

Manage all your travel essentials in one place within the Travel section. Here, you can apply for a Qatar return permit, which is a mandatory permit for Qatari residents (not citizens) who have spent more than six months in another country and want to return.

Moreover, you can submit pre-registration for Abu Samra Border (Qatar has a land border with just one country), which allows you to use a fast lane at the border. If you’re not a citizen but hold a residence permit, you can also check your leave status and any requirements related to vacation or leave in this section.

Delegation: Authorize others to complete tasks for you

The Delegation feature in the Metrash app allows users to assign and manage permissions for various personal and official tasks. This section helps people delegate responsibilities securely and conveniently.

For example, you can assign a relative to handle tasks on your behalf for a set period within Personal Delegation or grant temporary permission to a specific person to use or transport your vehicle. In addition, the Release Vehicle Delegate option allows owners of seized vehicles to delegate a person to receive the vehicle on their behalf once it’s released.

Most importantly, the new relative registration feature enables users to register their wives and children (who don’t have a phone number) for the Metrash app.

Certificates: Instantly access your documents

In the Metrash app, users can view, download, or print official digital certificates such as a traffic certificate, a national address certificate, a traveler transaction, etc. These certificates can be used for different processes in the country, including vehicle registration, visa extension, and residency permits.

Simply go to the Certificates section on the home page to access the documents you need. Some of the docs you can download include:

  • Traffic Certificate: The driving license history and vehicle-related certificates (previous vehicles owned, first owner certificate, ownership transfer certificate…)

  • Residency Certificate: Proof of residency or residence permit certificates, required for a family residence visa, a health card, or enrolling in schools

  • National Address Certificate: A certificate that verifies a residential address in Qatar

  • Visa Holder List: A report of visa holders under your sponsorship

  • Travelers Transaction Report: Your travel history and related transaction details

General: Quick overview of maps and key establishments

Under the General icon in the Metrash app, you can access interactive maps and manage your establishment.

The maps section allows users to search for government offices, hospitals, service centers, immigration offices, and other essential facilities.

Communicate: Raise concerns

The Communicate section in the Metrash app lets you submit complaints, send queries, and make requests across a range of services. This section includes contact forms for getting in touch with customer support for any app issues.

Furthermore, users can submit mostly requests for field visits, awareness lectures, camps, etc. They can also make inquiries about traffic, passports, and human rights. The Social Services option lets users get informed on social support, behavioral counseling, and family disputes,  or submit reports for dangerous intersections, curves, exposed electricity, and similar issues in their city.

Stay updated with real-time notifications

The app sends real-time notifications and alerts for application statuses, renewals, expiring documents, and new service announcements.

You can also customize which notifications to receive, from accidents to personal and family authorizations.
