Depending on the type of visa, the process of approving it may take days to weeks. It’s always a bit anxious for those waiting for their documents. However, in Qatar, you don’t have to think twice about how to check your visa status. The actual statuses are updated on the official site of the Ministry of Interior (MOI). A step-by-step guide below should make the whole process even easier.
How to Check Your Work Visa through MOI
Via the Qatar Visa Center website
First, it’s not always the MOI website where you should go to check your Qatar visa status quickly. To enhance the visa process, the government established Qatar Visa Centers (QVC) in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines—the countries from which most workers come.
QVC provides essential pre-departure services, including employment contract signing, application fee processing, biometric enrollment, fingerprinting, and medical examination. So, if your passport belongs to one of the six nations mentioned above, try the QVC website:
1: Go to the QVC website
2: Select your language and country
3: Click «Track Application» on the homepage
4: Enter your passport number and application number in the designated fields
5: Click «Submit» to view your visa status
Via the MOI website
For applicants from countries without a specialized service center, visa processing should be done through the Qatar Embassy or authorized visa agencies. Normally, the employer secures approval for the work permit from Qatar’s Ministry of Labour. Once approved, the entry visa is stamped at the Qatar Embassy or an authorized visa center.
For Qatar visa check online by passport number, follow these steps:
1: Go to the MOI website
2: Click «Select Visa Service»
3: On the «Visa Services» page, choose »Inquiry and Printing»
4: Enter your application number or passport number and select your nationality.
5: Input the verification code displayed on the screen.
6: Click «Submit» to check your visa status.
How to Check the Qatar Family Residence Visa
If you meet the eligibility criteria as a foreign worker in Qatar, you can relocate your family members, including spouse, children, and parents, to live with you in the country. The documents required are: a completed application form, a marriage certificate for a spouse, and birth certificates for children.
After submitting your application for a family residence visa through the Metrash app or the immigration office, you can check the status of your family visa through the MOI website. The procedure is the same as with the work visa:
1: Go to the MOI website
2: Click «Select Visa Service»
3: On the «Visa Services» page, choose »Inquiry and Printing»
4: Enter your application number or passport number and select your nationality.
5: Input the verification code displayed on the screen.
6: Click «Submit» to check your visa status.
How to Check the Visit Visa to Qatar
A Qatar Visit visa allows short-term stays for tourism, business, or family visits. Qatar visa validity depends on the type of visa. Normally, the tourist visas are issued for a 30-day stay, yet they are extendable.
If your family lives here, they can sponsor you for a Qatar Family Visit Visa. This visa allows a 30-day stay and is extendable up to six months after a medical exam. The application is submitted via Qatar’s Ministry of Interior or the Hayya portal. At the MOI website, you will have to take roughly the same steps as with checking your work visa. Here’s the specific instruction for the Hayya Portal:
1: Register on the Hayya Portal.
2: Enter details and upload required documents
3: Book the accommodation.
4: Upload the accommodation voucher for approval. The application then changes to «Pending Payment.»
5: Pay the fee—a visit visa costs QAR 100.
6: Processing takes 7-10 days. After that, you should get the final approval.
