Who needs visa to Thailand
Nationals of 93 countries, including Qatar, can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days (extendable once for 30 days) for tourism or short business. Check your country’s eligibility on the official Thai immigration website.
Expatriates from certain countries must apply through the official platform.
What is visa on arrival (VoA)
Citizens of 31 countries may apply for a Thailand visa on arrival at immigration checkpoints, such as international airports and land border crossings. The visa is issued and stamped directly at the passport control counter and is valid for 15 days. While the process is quick and straightforward, travelers must meet specific requirements—such as a passport valid for at least one month, a return ticket, proof of accommodation.
Applying for Thailand visa from Qatar: Step-by-step
If you are not eligible for visa on arrival or visa-free entry, apply for a Thailand e-visa through the official platform.
Step 1: Check visa requirements and visa type you need
Visit the website, select your nationality, and enter your planned length of stay. The platform will automatically display the applicable visa type and requirements based on your input.
Step 2: Begin the application process
Start by creating an account on the official website. Once logged in, fill in the visa application form with your personal details and travel information.
Next, upload all required documents. These include a valid passport (with at least six months of validity), two recent passport-sized photos (3.5 x 4.5 cm), a copy of your Qatar ID, round-trip flight bookings, and hotel reservations or a local address in Thailand. You’ll also need to provide proof of sufficient funds—either a recent bank statement or cash equivalent, and valid travel insurance that meets Thailand’s requirements.
Once your documents are uploaded, proceed to the payment section. The visa fee depends on the type of visa: a single-entry tourist visa costs QAR 150 per person, while the e-visa on arrival is approximately QAR 490 (payable in local currency).
After submission, your application will be reviewed, and the approved visa will be sent to your email. It is recommended to apply at least two weeks in advance, get your travel insurance ahead of time, and print all confirmations.
Thailand travel insurance is now mandatory
Thai government requires all visitors to have a valid travel insurance. Normally the QIC Thailand travel insurance starts at QAR 87. The total price depends on many terms, including stay duration, age, or add-ons you may choose. The plan includes medical travel insurance, travel inconveniences such as cancellations or baggage loss, 24/7 emergency assistance, and optional add-ons such as COVID-19 treatment and winter sports treatment.
