A list of parks, cafes, restaurants, and beaches in Qatar where your dog is welcome.

While Qatar is becoming more pet-friendly, there’s still a long way to go. The majority of cafes and open spaces don’t allow dogs. Furthermore, many public beaches and parks don’t have their own websites or social media profiles, making it difficult to find information on whether pets are allowed. Beaches

Great news: almost all public beaches allow dogs, and the entrance is usually free, so you can enjoy sandy days with crystal-clear waters with your companion. Before bringing your pet, double-check the beach rules, as most require dogs to remain on a leash during the entire visit.Ā

Al Wakrah BeachĀ

Located in the vicinity of Al Wakrah Public Garden, Al Wakrah is one of the most popular pet-friendly beaches in Qatar, and a stop you can’t miss. Just 19 km south of Doha, the beach is free and open between 6 AM and 10 PM.Ā

This is an excellent spot for families with children, with playgrounds, football and volleyball courts, and barbecue pits for a full day of fun. The waters are shallow, which is perfect for dogs who are just learning to get around in the water.Ā

Fuwairit Beach

This beach is around 100 km from Doha, so it’s perfect for a full-day getaway. Expect interesting rock formations, wildlife, and unique seashells all around the area. There is even an abandoned village nearby if you want to take a break from the water and explore.

Although the beach is generally considered pet-friendly, some parts are managed by resorts. Therefore, check the pet policies for those areas if you’re planning to take your pet there. What’s more, since this beach is a nesting area for some turtle species. Therefore, from April to June, certain dog restrictions can be imposed to protect the wildlife.

Maroona BeachĀ

Also known as the French Beach, Maroona is one of the most popular getaways for pet owners. The beach has mostly flat, sandy terrain and shallow waters, with little to no amenities, so your dogs can run and swim without interruption.Ā

Maroona is about 90 km from Doha on Qatar’s Northeastern coast, and access is free. It doesn’t have any seating or shaded areas, so you’ll have to bring your own sun umbrellas, chairs, and refreshments.Ā

Zekreet BeachĀ

If you are more into adventurous, rocky beaches, you have to visit Zekreet. Also known as Ras Abrouq Beach, this area is mostly untouched. Expect to find interesting rocks along the shore, mushroom-shaped limestone structures, and plenty of space for your dog to run around.Ā

The beach is about 90 km away from Doha, so you can organize a day trip and also check out the Al Zubara Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This area is also great for off-roading, and you can reach it by 4x4 as well.Ā

West Bay BeachĀ

This beach recently joined the pet-friendly list and is located within Doha, making it great for a quick afternoon getaway. It’s open from 8 AM to 10 PM, and entry is QAR 30 on weekdays and QAR 45 on weekends. Amenities include sunbeds and umbrellas, food trucks, and delicious snacks for you and your dog.
