Tuesday, Feb.11, marks Qatar National Sports Day, an annual holiday, dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle across the country. As an insurance company that cares about your personal well-being, QIC places special emphasis on physical activity. We understand finding time for the gym isn’t always easy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t stay fit. Our bodies are smart — they benefit from any form of movement, whether in the office, at home, or in the beautiful streets of Doha.
QIC asked Qatar’s top influencers, Lulwa Al-Marri and Mr.Tiq, to share their tips on maintaining their fitness throughout the day.
Mr. TIQ, Influencer and Entrepreneur
What’s your weapon for keeping yourself in shape?
Adaptability! I don’t believe in excuses — movement is possible anywhere, anytime. Whether it’s quick workouts at the office, stretching between meetings, or an outdoor session at the Corniche, I keep my body active in a way that fits my lifestyle. Fitness isn’t about being in a gym — it’s about making every moment count!
Favorite meal after an exhaustingly heavy training?
Something high in protein and satisfying! Grilled chicken or a good steak always hits the spot. And if I need a quick energy boost, a smoothie packed with dates, almond butter, and protein is my go-to — it’s simple, delicious, and fuels me fast!
If you could make a collaboration with any professional athlete on Earth, who’d that be?
Cristiano Ronaldo — no question! His discipline, mindset, and work ethic are unmatched. He’s proof that consistency beats talent, and that’s a message I’d love to push further. Imagine mixing his elite training style with my ‘fitness-anywhere’ philosophy — that’s next-level motivation for everyone!
Lulwa Al-Marri, triathlete, Qatar National Team
As a professional athlete, what are the top three habits you’d recommend to non-professionals for building stamina?
If I had to pick just three, I’d say — first, be consistent! Don’t go all out one day and crash the next. Even short, steady workouts will build stamina over time. Second, eat a rich protein diet to build muscle mass. And third, don’t underestimate recovery! Sleep, stretch, and take active rest days — your body gets stronger when you let it recharge
Is there any beautiful running route in Doha that you could share with our readers?
Oh, definitely! You can’t go wrong with the Corniche — it’s a classic. The skyline and the Gulf views are incredible, and there’s always a nice breeze in the morning. The path is well-maintained, making it ideal for runners, walkers, and cyclists.
Your favorite meal after a tough session?
After a heavy training session, my favorite meal is a grilled chicken bowl with quinoa, roasted vegetables, and avocado. It’s packed with lean protein for muscle recovery, healthy carbs for energy replenishment, and healthy fats for overall nutrition. I love topping it with a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of herbs for extra flavor. It’s satisfying and helps me refuel properly!
