Qatar is best known for its futuristic architecture and lively souqs, but its art scene is just as worth exploring. While the Museum of Islamic Art or National Museum of Qatar always make it to the must-see listicles, there are other lesser-known art galleries and museums that deserve the spotlight. Whether you're into special collections, immersive history or quirky art, the country caters for every taste.
Museum of Islamic Art — MIA
You might have seen it on postcards — MIA is an architectural masterpiece of geometric design, clean lines and harmonious angles. Inside, it gets even better. You’ll walk through centuries-old manuscripts, intricate glassware, and carpets that look too beautiful to walk on. It’s close to the Corniche, and you can get your ticket online through the museum’s official website.
Entry fees: QAR 50 for tourists and free for residents.

National Museum of Qatar — NMoQ
Inspired by the shape of the iconic desert rose, NMoQ is one of Qatar’s architectural jewels. Located near the Corniche, it narrates Qatar’s history through interactive films and displays. Once inside, you’ll move through oil fields, family homes, and pearl dives — it feels like stepping into a time machine. You can also save time and book your ticket online.
Entry fees: QAR 50 for tourists and free for residents.

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art
Mathaf is one of the largest museums in the world that’s dedicated to modern Arab art. It is home to more than 9,000 pieces — Calligraphy reimagined as abstraction, bold portraits, vintage posters, playful video art, and unusual sculptures. It’s located in Education City and has always been a favourite among locals.

Fire Station Museum
What was once a fire station is now a beautifully restored creative space. The Fire Station Museum is more than a gallery. It’s a creative studio where talents can be mentored and have a space for their exhibitions. When you walk in, you might catch an artist putting the last touch on his piece or a fresh show being installed in the gallery. And don’t miss the café — the coffee hits differently with those art vibes. Inside, you’ll find a shop stocked with everything an art lover might want — art supplies, drawing and painting tools, craft materials, and stationery. It’s located near Al Bidda Park.
Entry fees: Free for residents and QAR 50 for tourists.

M7
M7 is where design, fashion, and tech come together, all under one seriously stylish roof. Set in the heart of Msheireb Downtown, it’s home to exhibitions, concept stores, co-working labs, and occasional runway shows. One week, it’s vintage Dior. The next, a local artist rethinking furniture entirely. The space sits within a walkable, modern design district — calm and perfect for a slow afternoon wander.
Entry fees: Free most of the time, but some special events may require a ticket. Make sure to check their website if you’re aiming to attend a specific exhibition.

Katara Art Center
Located inside Katara Cultural Village, KAC feels more like a crafts studio than a gallery. You’ll find interesting exhibitions by local and regional artists, ceramics, and photography. The center also hosts hands-on workshops and film screenings that often lead to long, thoughtful conversations. It’s a varied, ever-evolving space that speaks to your artistic side and invites you to be part of the process.

Msheireb Museums
Hidden in the quiet streets of Msheireb Downtown, this museum comes in the form of four heritage houses that tell the story of Doha through its people. You’ll experience stories about migration, slavery, urban transformation, and how life was in pre-modern Qatar. It feels intimate, like flipping through an old family album.
Entry fees: Free

Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum
This museum houses over 15,000 objects: vintage cars, ancient coins, handwoven rugs, weapons, fossils, and more. And it’s all a labor of love. These collections belong to Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, and this museum is his legacy. Located in Al Shahaniya, 30 minutes from Doha, it’s a special place to wander and discover something completely different. You can also book your ticket online.
Entry Fees: QAR 50 for adults and QAR 30 for children.

Museum of Illusions
This isn’t your typical quiet and serious museum — it’s a playground for your brain. Situated inside the Gate Mall, the Museum of Illusions is home to spinning tunnels, upside-down rooms, and mirror tricks that leave you wondering and questioning what’s real.. Bring your camera, and get ready to see reality differently. You can also book your ticket online through their official website.
Entry fees: QAR 80 for adults and QAR 60 for children, with family packages available.

Al Markiya Gallery
Qatar’s oldest private gallery, with a fresh approach to where and how art is shown. Instead of one fixed location, Al Markhiya rotates its exhibitions between two of Doha’s creative hubs: Katara Cultural Village and the Fire Station. The shows change regularly, and the styles do too. You can always check what’s on next on their website. Wherever it’s on display, it’s always worth a look.
